Stage Fort Park

Stage Fort Park is located just west of the draw bridge in Gloucester Harbor. Two beaches present different dive opportunities. Stage Fort is well protected from rough weather. It's possible to dive when the wind is coming from most directions, though a southerly blow can result in a significant surf entry.

Parking is plentiful. In the off-season, it's free. During the summer there's a fee to park. Restrooms are available during the summer, and a snack bar operates.

From Cressy's Beach, the larger beach pictured above, the dive is relatively shallow. Staying to the right as you enter the water and swimming out that way, you'll find boulders with a variety of wildlife. Ocean Pout, crabs, starfish have all been spotted here.

The other beach, Half Moon Beach, is smaller and more of a hike. The dive can get a bi deeper (though still not all that deep) but be careful to avoid going out into the boat channel. This is a heavy traffic area.
