Pleasure Beach, Waterford, CT

This is an easy dive. Just a good place to get wet in the off-season months. It is on Long Island Sound at Jordan Cove, on Shore Road in Waterford.

Access is easy. Walk in at a paved boat ramp. Ramp is protected even during heavy weather (for divers, not much protection for boats). Parking is free and plentiful (except during the height of boating season).

Dive Info: depth runs 15 to 20 feet. Current is minimal. Bottom is steep rocks near shore and falls off to a sandy bottom. Full range of wild life. Good night dive for bugs. Patrolled by DEP and Waterford PD. Rocks are a used fishing equipment super store. Visibility observed at 3 to 10 feet, with the common range being 8 - 10.

Bathrooms: Portable toilet facilities at the site. Also a street light to add safety at night.

Directions: From I 95 take Cross Road Exit. Follow Parkway to Cross Road, Exit 81. Turn south on Cross Road (Left if you were on I95S, Right if on I95N). Turn Left at light on to Post Road (Rte 1 North) (about 1 mile from I95). Turn Right at light on to Avery Lane (Package store on right corner) (1-1/2 mile from Cross Road). Straight across Rte 156 (Rope Ferry Road).You are now on Great Neck Road (Rte 213). Follow Great Neck Road for about 2 Miles to Goshen Road.

Right on Goshen Road (Great Neck School is on the corner). Straight on Goshen Road. It becomes Shore Road and the state launching ramp is straight in front of you.
